EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Clark Wildfire girls soccer team won the Mid-New Jersey Soccer Association championship title on June 9 with a 1-0 win over Hunterdon. Their victory came via a free kick from 20 yards out by DeReamer with minutes left to play. This is the first all-girls team from Clark to win a MNJYSA championship in almost a decade.
This win comes just two weeks after the Wildfire beat Middlesex 2-1 in a game with double overtime and a shootout. During that playoff game, the girls wrapped up their victory with shootout goals by Leah Marcino, Kayla DeReamer and Sienna Guarino
The Wildfire finished their Spring with 7 straight victories, ending the season with a 7-2 record in Flight 2 of MNJYSA. The team was coached by Dave Guarino and Pedro Matos and trained by Stephanie Brito.
The team will be honored for their achievement at the next Town Council Meeting on June 17 in the Clark Council Chambers .
