Clark Health Department Announces Free Health Screenings


CLARK, NJ - The Clark Health Department will host two upcoming health screening events for Clark residents only.

On Thursday April 2, 2015 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. there will be free blood pressure, blood sugar and quick cholesterol screenings. A two hour fast is required for the blood sugar test. The quick cholesterol screening takes up to 3 minutes to read.  This is a first come, first served event and pre-registration is NOT required.  It will be held in the cafeteria of the Clark Recreation Center, 430 Westfield Ave.  

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, an SMA blood test with lipid panel will be available. This free blood test covers everything from glucose, sodium, potassium kidney function  iron, liver function , etc. as well as cholesterol, triglycerides, good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Because of the  popularity of this once a year offered program, pre-registration is a must. Walk-ins cannot be accepted. A twelve hour fast is required  for this  test.  To pre-register, please contact Nancy Raymond, Health Officer at 732-428-8405

Residents are also reminded of the date change for the Clark Give and Share Program's fourth annual "Drive By Food Drive."  This event will now be held on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon.  Volunteers will be standing by at the horseshoe in front of the municipal building to remove donations of non-perishable food and toiletries from vehicles.  No lifting required!

Cranford Man Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on Route 9

April 10, 2018

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Cranford man died after his car collided with another vehicle on Route 9 on Sunday.

Thomas McHugh, 88, was driving north in the southbound fast lane on Route 9, where he crashed head-on into another vehicle. On impact, one of the cars caught fire, according to Sgt. Jim Chessere of the Woodbridge Police Department.
