CLARK, NJ – Clark police responded to ShopRite early Thursday evening after a member of the store’s security team was in an altercation with a suspected shoplifter.  

According to Clark Police Chief Pedro Matos, a ShopRite security officer attempted to stop a Hispanic male suspected of shoplifting from leaving the store.  In response, the man allegedly punched the officer in the face and fled the supermarket.

Clark police were able to trace the man to his residence and take him into custody.
