CLARK, NJ – Some local girl scouts learned to sew recently on a path to earn their Silver Award. Members of Troop 41425 took a class and then worked at home with mothers, grandmothers, and family friends according to leaders Stephanie Kleczynski and Janet Downing.
The girls raised money at local events in the community. Once they had the funding to support their supplies list, the girls broke into two groups. Julia Kleczynski, Taylor Normann and Nila Tasharofi made pillowcases for children in hospitals. They made over 100 of them for Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. The wanted to bring a smile to sick kids in the hopes of brightening their day said adult leaders.
The other half of the troop made pet beds for the NYC Animal Alliance. Cassie Corsentino,
Sophia Downing, and Eva Sarantidis wanted to help make animals kept in cages at shelters feel warm and safe while they wait to be adopted.
