CLARK, NJ – The Clark Benefit Fund’s 2015 Excellence in Community Service Award was presented to Ralph Bernardo during the organization’s annual ball held on Saturday evening at the Gran Centurions. Bernardo is the township’s Director of Recreation.
“I love my job and I love this town. The kids keep me young and the seniors give me guidance of what’s to come,” Bernardo said during his acceptance remarks.
He extended his thanks to the committee, recreation liaison Councilman Bill Smith, and Mayor Sal Bonaccorso. Of Bonaccorso, Bernardo said, “He is more than a boss to me. His guidance and support are overwhelming.”
Bernardo went on to thank his wife of 29 years, Karen, and his family for their support during years of missed dinners and working on weekends and holidays.
The Clark Benefit Fund is a civic organization whose fundraising efforts provide financial support for township activities, community programming and scholarships for Arthur L. Johnson High School graduating seniors. The annual ball was organized by Henrietta Pozyc, Geraldine Bonaccorso, Christine Drajin, Cindy Fresco and Donna Roglieri.
“Thank you for this recognition; I am humbled by your sincerity and kindness. I can’t imagine doing anything else. Thank you,” concluded Bernardo.
