CLARK, NJ – Boy Scout Troop 145 held a Court of Honor on Sunday, August 20 to honor scout Christian Lizzo for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
To earn this rank, young men must meet various scouting requirements in many subjects and take on leadership roles. They must also earn at least 21 merit badges. These badges signify a path of study and mastery of a variety of required and selected skills.
Each candidate for Eagle Scout must also complete an Eagle Scout leadership service project. Lizzo’s project involved giving a much needed facelift to the basement level of Dress for Success. This organization assists women in difficult situations by providing them with formal cloths and proper tools to succeed in job interviews, as well as an additional two weeks’ worth of outfits to wear to new jobs.
Lizzo directed a team of scouts and parents as they volunteered their time to paint walls, redo flooring, set up new shelving and make other improvements to the space.
Over his career Lizzo earned over 30 merit badges, took historical trips with the troop, hiked numerous trails including the Appalachian, participated in the annual Klondike Derby and enjoyed many camping trips.
The Troop 145 Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at the Clark First Aid Squad. The ceremony included a review of the Lizzo’s journey in scouting, a presentation of the award and a gathering of scouts and their families.
