CLARK, NJ – Girls basketball at the Arthur L. Johnson High School will have a coaching change this season, as the Clark Board of Education held a special meeting Tuesday night to approve new appointments.

Joseph Marino, formerly an assistant boys’ coach, will take over as the girls’ team head coach. Marjana Banic was approved as the team’s assistant coach. Also joining the coaching staff will be Joseph Sortino.

The board accepted the resignation of Michele Sharp, who joined the district in 2013 after a controversial stint as the Kean University women’s basketball coach. According to an nj.com report at the time, Sharp was fired for NCAA violations related to the team. Also resigning from ALJ was assistant coach Melissa Beyruti.

The board also approved the placement of Andrew Lazirko to the ice hockey team.
