EDITOR'S NOTE/CORRECTION: This story ran on Feb. 20, 2016.  After publication, ALJ determined that Anthony Priore’s career win total in 2007 was 123-15, not 107 as originally thought.  See this Letter to the Editor submitted by ALJ Athletic Director Gus Kalikas:  ALJ Wrestling Record Stands with Anthony Priore, Class of 2007.

MILLBURN, NJ – He tied it on a pin, and broke it on a decision.  Kyle Gregorio is now the winningest wrestler in Arthur L. Johnson High School history. Last Saturday, in the final dual meet of the season, Gregorio won his 108th varsity wrestling match, breaking the school’s record of 107 set in 2007 by Crusader Anthony Priore.

“It has been a pleasure to coach Kyle over the last 3 years and getting to witness him break the Johnson Crusader's all-time win record,” wrestling coach Mike Siter said. “It has taken nine years to surpass the previous record. What a fantastic achievement.”

With the district tournament this weekend in South Plainfield, regionals next week, and the state tournament just one week later, Gregorio has the opportunity to raise the bar even higher.

Gregorio reached his 100th win on Saturday, January 30.
