WESTFIELD, NJ — Two elderly women whose car had crashed into a telephone pole on Central Avenue near Marlboro Street Tuesday night just before 7 p.m. were taken to the hospital, according to Westfield Police Sgt. Michael Walsh.
One of those women — the passenger in the car — was unresponsive when the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad arrived. Members of the squad performed CPR and were able to get a pulse, Walsh said. She was transported to University Hospital where she is still being treated, according to Walsh.
The driver, he said, was also taken to the hospital and has since been released.
Another car was apparently involved, but it was unclear how. The crash is under investigation, he said.
