SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD— The Crusaders faced a tough battle on the road against the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders in boys’ basketball on Thursday night, falling  79-65 in regular season play.

Despite a change in defense that supported a 7-0 run at the start of the second half, the Crusaders were unable to stop the Raiders’ momentum.

George Visconti led the Johnson scorers with 28, while Mitch Becker and Dan O’Donnell each contributed 10 points in the loss.

SPF’s Tajir Taylor was the home team favorite in his first major showing of the season.  Taylor posted 12 points and supported the Raiders on the strength of some flashy passing and forced turnovers. Leo Ramos had the high total at 24 for SPF.

The 12-9 Crusaders next take on West Essex at home Tuesday night.
