Field of Three Runs for Three Seats on the Clark Board of Education

CLARK, NJ – June 25 was the deadline to file a petition to run for the local Board of Education. According to the Union County Clerk’s office, three candidates have filed to run in Clark.  They are:

  • Lorraine j. Aklonis (incumbent)
  • Thomas Lewis (incumbent)
  • Henry R. Varriano

Board of Education members serve a three year term. With three expiring seats on the board, the candidates are essentially running unopposed in the upcoming November election.

Current board member Sheri Sandler has decided not to run for another term.

Henry Varriano, a former board member who was unseated by new member Scott Bohm in last year's election, will return to the board in this uncontested race. 

The Garwood Board of Education elects a representative to the Clark Board of Education during its January reorganization meeting.
