'Full of Hustle and Lots of Wins' Clark Fourth-Grade Travel Basketball Team Celebrated at Council Meeting

CLARK, NJ – Clark’s fourth-grade girls’ travel basketball team was recognized by Mayor Sal Bonaccorso for a winning season he referred to as full of hustle and lots of wins. 

This season, the girls won their age group in the annual Clark Travel Basketball Winter Tournament as well qualifying in the finals of the Central Jersey Basketball League .

Bonaccorso introduced head coach Sara Panetta and then presented her and each team member a certificate of achievement.  Panetta thanked the mayor and told the girls they were her favorite fourth graders in all of Clark. She laughed and then said they were her favorites in all of New Jersey.

Assistant Coach Dave Panetta was also recognized by Bonaccorso for his work in running what he called the biggest annual tournament in all of New Jerseyheld at the Clark Recreation Center. 

 "Dave Panetta is our Tournament Director, he runs by far the best tournament in the state...184 teams and he has it running like a clock," said Bonaccorso.  "I want to thank you on behalf of the league, the township and the parents, it's a great thing."

Team mom's Shannon Tarantino and Jennifer Truppa were  also recognized by Bonaccorso and Panetta for their help with the girls throughout the season.

Cranford Man Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on Route 9

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Cranford man died after his car collided with another vehicle on Route 9 on Sunday.
