WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Essex ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to A.L. Johnson Friday night.

Johnson (4-0) took a 2-1 lead in the first period, forcing the Knights to play from behind the rest of the way. Rocky Azari put in two for the Crusaders, while Mike Alongi and Tyler Mekovitz each scored one. Credited with assists were Matt Alongi (2), NIck Galati (1), Dylan Ringwood (1) and Mekovitz (1). 

Patrick Coyle and Jared Huff each scored goals for West Essex (2-2). Alex Antonian and Connor McCarthy had assists for the Knights.

Crusader goalie Karol Wieczorek stopped 29 of 31 shots on goal. West Essex goalie Hannah Podvey made 25 saves, West Essex outshot Johnson, 31-29.
