Johnson Boys Varsity Basketball Season Ends with Loss at Rumson-Fair Haven HS


RUMSON, NJ - The No. 11 ranked Arthur L. Johnson Crusaders boys varsity basketball team took it on the road in the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 2 quarterfinals matchup with No. 3 ranked Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs, but saw their season end Thursday night at Rumson. The final score was 77-47.

The Bulldogs led the Crusaders by just a single point at halftime, 31-30, but once the second half started, it became a completely different ballgame.

Rumson-Fair Haven overwhelmed the Crusaders with a 25-6 run in the third quarter to build a 56-36 lead. Overall, the Bulldogs outscored the Crusaders in the second half by a score of 46-17 to put the game away.

For Rumson, senior Brendan Barry added 30 points in the victory, while sophomore Elijah McAllister scored ten points in the victory.

For Johnson, sophomore George Visconti scored 15 points in the loss, while senior Mitch Becker added 12 points. Also contributing to the ALJ total: Tom Colicchio, Michael DeMarco, Jeff Drajin, Sean Kovatch and Brendan Stanzione

The Johnson Crusaders boys varsity basketball team finishes their 2015-16 season with a 12-13 record.

The Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs (21-5), advance to the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 2 semifinals, and will play at No. 2 ranked Manasquan HS Saturday afternoon in 4:00 p.m.

Cranford Man Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on Route 9

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Cranford man died after his car collided with another vehicle on Route 9 on Sunday.
