CLARK, NJ - The No. 4 ranked Johnson boys varsity soccer team took on the No. 5 ranked North Plainfield High School Canucks in the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 2 state quarterfinals, and behind senior Liam Deacy’s hat trick, the Crusaders got the win Friday morning in Clark. The final score was 4-1.
Deacy scored three goals to help his team hold a comfortable lead, while senior Konrad Kosiek also scored a goal and had an assist in the victory for Johnson. Seniors Matthew Hennessey and Juan Sieira, and sophomore Greg Zukowski each recorded an assist.
Johnson senior goaltender Zack Sandler made 20 saves in the victory.
For the North Plainfield Canucks, sophomore Francisco Corral scored the lone goal in the loss, while senior goaltender Allan Del Salto made 12 saves.
The Johnson boys varsity soccer team advances to the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 2 state tournament semifinals on Tuesday, when they will host 9th-seeded Holmdel at 4 p.m.
