Johnson Crusaders Soccer Lose to Westfield Blue Devils

CLARK, NJ-  The Arthur L. Johnson High School Crusaders boys varsity soccer team took to the field for a home game, five days after their Union County Tournament Preliminary Round win over Roselle Park HS, but weren’t able to contain the Westfield High School Blue Devils, losing by a final score of 6-1 Tuesday afternoon in Clark.

The Blue Devils, who were recently named the top seeded team in the Union County Tournament, scored early and often, never looking back.

Westfield senior Jack Dobosiewicz recorded a hat trick, while junior Brian Hinkel tallied two goals in the victory. Senior Matthew Canabarro netted one goal in the win for his team.

Senior Josh Mendelson stopped four of five shots that came his way in the win for the Blue Devils.

Johnson senior Matthew Vigliotti tallied the lone goal for his team, his third of the season.

The Johnson Crusaders (5-4) will head out on the road to play at Cranford HS Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

The Westfield Blue Devils (8-1-1) head back out on the road to play at Summit HS Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
