CLARK, NJ – Recently, Margo Rosenmeier’s students at Carl H. Kumpf worked on important life skills in the class’s brand new kitchen.

After prepping the materials needed the day before, students combined ingredients to make sugar cookies.  Students read through the recipe, measure ingredients, and mix and roll the dough.  Students then cut, baked, and decorated the cookies.

Every student was involved in the lesson from start to finish. They also were responsible for clean-up, which included washing and drying the dishes as well as putting them away.

The activity provided an opportunity for students to practice fine motor skills with Occupational Therapist Ms. Brandthill.

The kitchen, a new addition to the class this year, is meant to support valuable lessons such as this one.  All of the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and the final product looked delicious.
