PLAINFIELD, NJ - Just 27 hours after a shooting claimed the life of a man in the city on Wednesday night, another fatal shooting took place in Plainfield on Thursday night.
Hakeem T. Young, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene on the 900 block of North Avenue near the Netherwood Station after police responded to reports of shots being fired at around 9 p.m., according to a release from the office of acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park.
The matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Plainfield Police Division, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit. On Wednesday, 37-year-old Willie Lee Major was shot to death on West Fourth Street at around 6:45 p.m. That shooting took place in the West End of town. Thursday's shooting was east of the downtown area. There has been no indication the two incidents are connected.
