WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Police Department issued a Nixle alert Thursday just after 10:30 p.m. advising of police activity on the 900 block of Grandview Avenue near the Garwood border.

“Stay indoors and avoid area,” the message said. “Do not contact WPD for non-emergencies.”

Police outside of a home on that block can be heard repeating to a woman inside, “We just worried about you and we want to make sure that you’re okay … give us a signal.”

Erin Anderson lives across the street.

"We had an officer ask us to turn off our exterior lights around 9:30 or 10," Anderson said. "I'm worried for my neighbor."
