Permanent Repairs to Water Main Begin

CLARK, NJ – Residents of Clark driving on Madison Hill Road this week experienced a change in traffic patterns while work got under way on permanently fixing the water main pipe that broke in July.   Crews began by cutting down trees and shrubs to make way for the equipment to get in and the work to be done.

According to Richard Barnes, the External Affairs Manager for NJ American Water, “Crews are installing a 24-inch water main made of high density polyethylene through the existing 36-inch pipe.  In other words, the 300-foot new main will be pulled through the existing main and tied into our system.”

Barnes added, "The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 12 and we don't anticipate water service disruptions.”
