SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- Saint Joseph High School held its commencement ceremonies, including a baccalaureate mass and graduation, on Sunday, May 20, at The Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield in honor of the Class of 2018.  Several Clark residents were among the graduating seniors.  

Saint Joseph has announced the following statistics: 

  • Class of 2018 collegiate scholarships totaled $37.2 million.
  • 94% of students receiving scholarships to four-year colleges received offers in excess of the four years tuition at Saint Joseph High School.  
  • 75% of students receiving scholarships to four-year schools were awarded one or more scholarships totaling in excess of $20,000 per year.
  • 65% of students receiving scholarships to four-year colleges were awarded a total individual scholarship amount in excess of $90,000 over 4 years.

Brother Louis Couvillon, S.C., a SJHS resident brother, presided over the mass. The Most Rev. James F. Checchio was in attendance and handed out diplomas alongside Mr. Justin Fleetwood, principal, and Dr. Gregory Brandao, president of the school. The valedictorian, Devin Busono, and salutatorian, Jason Manuel, both addressed their fellow graduates.

Saint Joseph High School (145 Plainfield Ave., Metuchen) is a private, Catholic all-boys college preparatory school located on 70 acres operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, who have been active in American education since their arrival from Lyons, France in 1847. The faculty is comprised of competent lay and religious educators.
