CLARK, NJ - Students in Ms. Czarnecki's computer class at Valley Road School didn't use their winning Class Dojo points to purchase a prize from the prize box or free time on the computer; instead, they used them to assist younger classes.
Using Class Dojo, an online tool to build classroom community, students earn points for doing well in class. Usually the points are redeemed for some type of reward. This time, Czarnecki's students earned 15 points which they “turned in” to assist their younger classmates.
Czarnecki found herself overwhelmed by the gesture her students made. “These students wanted to lend a helping hand. They gave their time without the expectation of anything in return. One by one these young ladies demonstrated one of the greatest gifts that can be bestowed upon one another...kindness.”
