CLARK, NJ - Saint John the Apostle School, welcomed students and parents to their Early Childhood Program for the new school year recently.   Since that time students have been busy making new friends, learning to share, taking turns and playing in their new classrooms while simultaneously enjoying academic experiences.

Teachers work on cognitive development through playing independently and with instructor-directed activity.  Each classroom features hands on activities such as coloring, painting, playdough and blocks.  Teachers also integrate mathematics and reading skills in play-based activities.

Learning how to be a good classmate and follow the rules was turned into a fun game for one class recently.  While in another, students worked to create artwork.  During their time in school, Pre-K students learn letter recognition, letter sounds and numbers.   Students also participate in calming exercising which help promote self-regulation.
