CLARK, NJ – Party-goers who weren’t ready to go home caused a scene at the Gran Centurions Friday night. With Clark Police involved in a situation elsewhere in town, Clark Chief of Police Pedro Matos said assistance was called in from neighboring towns.

Police from Mountainside, Scotch Plains, Rahway and Union County responded.

Although the Carl H. Kumpf Middle School eighth grade dance was held at the venue on Friday night, Matos said the events were unrelated.

“It was another party,” Matos said. “They refused to shut down the party and were becoming verbally abusive to the staff and our officer who was there for the dance.”

Matos said the officer on duty at the dance stepped in at the request of Gran Centurions staff.

“The party was shut down peacefully and no arrests were made,” Matos said.
