ELIZABETH, NJ – One of two suspects sought in the February shooting of a Rahway store owner had a pronounced limp, a video released today by the Union County Prosecutor’s shows.  

Jamal Gaines, 21, was killed in his sneaker store on Irving Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. Surveillance video shot before and after the shooting shows two suspects, with their faces hidden by fabric, entered the store through a rear utility door. 

A struggle ensued before the fatal shots were fired.

The suspects are then seen on the video running out of the back door and sprinting down a rear alley. One of the suspects has a pronounced limp.

The suspect with the limp appeared to be wearing dark pants, light-colored sneakers, and a dark hooded sweatshirt with a light-colored patch on the left arm, the video shows. The other suspect appeared to be wearing a lighter-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown or beige shoes. Both held handguns.

Investigators are requesting help from the public in identifying the suspects, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park said in a statement.
