SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ --The Union Catholic swim team celebrated Senior Night with a victory over Dayton as the Vikings stretched its unbeaten streak to 20 straight meets in co-ed dual meets on Thursday night at the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains.
On a night when the great careers of Stewart Adams, Antonio Constable, Kai Tann, Emily Sweeney, Jackie Coyne, Jaren Mateo, Anna Gordon, and Hunter Lee were celebrated prior to the meet with a ceremony, the Vikings rolled to a 104-64 triumph to improve to 6-0 on the season in co-ed dual meets.
The Vikings won all but two events on the way the victory as several swimmers contributed to the victory.
Sophomore Julian Kaniuka was a quadruple winner (50 free/100 fly/200 medley relay/200 free relay) and freshman Bridget Davis (200 free/500 free) and Adams (200 medley relay and 200 free relay) were double winners.
Other individual winners for UC were Constable in the 100 free, and Gabby Green in the 100 back.
UC will be back in the pool on Sunday at the Union County Championships at the Sonny Werblin Center on the campus of Rutgers University. The girls meet starts at 1:30 p.m. and the boys at 5 p.m.
