SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Twin City Pharmacy & Surgical on Park Avenue has been serving the community since 1972. Started by Tom Cassio and his late brother Ralph, Twin City has been run for the past eight years by Tom’s son Tommy Cassio, Ralph’s daughter Sandy Cassio and her brother-in-law Bill Ashnault, who also happens to be pharmacist-at-large. All three are South Plainfield residents as well.

In addition to being a full-service pharmacy for prescriptions and vaccinations, Twin City offers durable medical equipment, surgical and wound care, ostomy/incontinence care, respiratory care, diabetic management, enteral feeding supplies and orthopedics as well as breast pumps, which under new federal laws are covered by most health insurance plans at little or no out-of-pocket cost. Additionally, Twin City installs portable ramps and provides medication and equipment to hospice and health care patients.

The Park Avenue pharmacy also accepts worker’s compensation, Medicare and most insurance plans and, since they are an independently run business with low overhead, their prices are competitive. “People should always check with us first. Our prices are extremely competitive to the chains and we will work to meet the cost, especially if someone doesn’t have insurance,” noted Sandy.

With many independent pharmacies closing over the years, losing business to large chain stores like CVS and Walgreens, Twin City has thrived. “What sets us apart is we can do so much more than the franchise stores can,” said Sandy. “It’s not always about money but about our customers needs and what the right thing to do may be. We deliver more than just the standard and try to help and accommodate all the needs of all people.”

Twin City, which prides itself on being ‘today’s modern pharmacy with old fashioned values,’ offers free delivery service to all customers, including those who may not reside within South Plainfield. They also stock most over-the-counter and prescription medications and a wide-range of medical equipment. “We can always special order something, whether it be medication or equipment,” said Sandy, noting that most items are available within two days of placing an order.

Twin City Pharmacy & Surgical is located at 1708 Park Avenue and is open seven-days-a-week. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call (908) 755-7696 or visit www.twincityrx.com.
