UCC Summer 2016 Continuing Education Brochure Now Available

CRANFORD – The Office of Continuing Education at Union County College has posted the summer 2016 brochure online and registration is now open.  Classes are offered for adults as well as youth ages 11-18 and programs run from early June through August.  The Continuing Education Department offers non-credit classes for professional development, career enhancement, leisure and personal enrichment, English as a Second Language (ESL), and courses in Spanish.

Professional development classes for summer include PMP Exam Prep, Certified Bookkeeper, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), EKG Technician, Electronics Technician, Event Planning, Human Resource Management, Interior Design, Microsoft Office Suite 2013, Personal Trainer National Certification, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, and Real Estate Sales.

New enrichment classes include How to Build a Website, Introduction to Drones, Nutrition Science, Stress Management, History of American Popular Music, Pet First Aid/CPR, Digital Photography for Beginners, and Knit and Crochet for Beginners and Intermediate.

Youth programs begin the week of June 27th and feature creative and innovative summer enrichment workshops for both boys and girls including Advanced Action Flix, Better-Thinker, Better-Writer, Better-Grades, Cartooning, Code Breakers, Crazy Contraptions, Fashion Passion, Intro to VEX IQ Robotics, Maker Lab: Make Your First 3D Creation, Minecraft Animators, Music Production: Beats and Lyrics, Writing for Self-Discovery, and SAT Exam Prep classes.

Cranford Man Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on Route 9

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Cranford man died after his car collided with another vehicle on Route 9 on Sunday.

Thomas McHugh, 88, was driving north in the southbound fast lane on Route 9, where he crashed head-on into another vehicle. On impact, one of the cars caught fire, according to Sgt. Jim Chessere of the Woodbridge Police Department.
