CLARK, NJ — A school bus transporting the J.P. Stevens High School girls’ volleyball team pulled off of the Garden State Parkway this afternoon onto Brant Avenue after the driver smelled exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin, according to Clark Police Chief Pedro Matos. 

The passengers were evaluated at the scene, Matos said, and four players were transported to a local hospital. The other passengers were released to their parents or coaching staff. 

Player Amanda Leary was on the bus and said "you couldn't even see your hand in front of your face."  Leary shot this video as the exhaust entered through the bus windows:

The incident temporarily caused significant traffic delays in the area.
