CLARK, NJ –  Members of the Clark community and beyond are welcome to join the Clark Police Department as they hold their annual memorial service in tribute of William J. Waterson on Tuesday, July 4 at 9 a.m. in front of the police station, 315 Westfield Avenue.  Waterson is the only Clark police officer to be killed in the line of duty.

Waterson was shot on the evening of July 3, 1971 while responding to a call at the Howard Johnson motel.  He died the next day from his wounds.   Click to read Waterson’s story, as recounted by Clark Councilman Brian Toal in May, 2015.
