Ways to Celebrate July 4 in & Around Clark

CLARK, NJ – There are lots of ways to celebrate Independence Day weekend.   Food, fun or fireworks,  it’s all available locally. 

Where to Play:

For some casual family fun head to Hyatt Hills Golf Complex in Clark.  With mini-golf, a driving range and golf, there is something to please each member of the family all weekend long.

Cranford will host festivities throughout the day on July 4, including its annual canoe races; Firecracker Four-Miler and Fun Run; a carnival featuring food vendors, games and amusements at Nomahegan Park. 

Westfield will celebrate Independence Day this year by kicking off its annual summer-long Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival. The family-friendly event will take over downtown from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 4 with free performances by live bands at five locations. Rain date is Wednesday. For details, click here.

The celebration in Westfield will continue Thursday, July 6, with a free patriotic performance by the Westfield Community Band in Mindowaskin Park. Click here for details.. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the municipal building.

Where to Eat, Drink, and Be Merry:

Cubanu offers classic Cuban food with a modern twist.  Visitors will find inspired dinner specials this weekend at their hot downtown Rahway location.  Bacardi buckets are one of this summer’s signature cocktails.   Come celebrate the best of Old Cuba in a contemporary establishment.  Open on Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday this holiday weekend. 

Molly Maguire’s serves up an extensive array of cocktail and craft beers along with awesome burgers and an extensive menu featuring traditional pub grub as well Irish fare and traditional dinner entrees.  Molly Maguire’s is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday but closed on July 4.

Oh’ Brian’s on the Green is the perfect contemporary gastro pub with a diverse menu that is accessible to everyone.   They offer 20 craft beers on tap with many more available by the bottle and an extensive cocktail menu.  Since they are on the same property as the Hyatt Hills Golf Complex, it’s the perfect stop before or after time on the green.  Oh’ Brian’s on the Green has live music Friday and Saturday evening.   

Where to See Fireworks:

Clark will host its annual fireworks display July 4 at Arthur L. Johnson High School. Starting at 7 p.m. attendees can enjoy food, ice cream and music while shopping novelty vendors with fireworks to follow.  For more information, click here.

Also on July 4, Cranford will fireworks beginning 9:15 p.m. in Nomahegan Park. For details, click here.

Scotch Plains Township will host its second annual fireworks display on Saturday, July 1, at the Scotch Hills Golf Course. The golf course will open at 7 p.m. for spectators to set down chairs and blankets. Fireworks will begin at dusk.  To learn more, click here. Rain date  is July 2.
