Wrestling: Two Crusaders Advance in District 13 Tourney; Fuschetto Wins at 132 lbs.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Two Arthur L. Johnson High School wrestlers will advance to regional competition after placing in Saturday's NJSIAA District 13 Wrestling Tournament, held for the first time ever at the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.  

Overall, Johnson finished eighth in a field of nine schools, sending wrestlers in eight of 14 weight classes.  Catholic school sports powerhouses Seton Hall Prep and St. Peter's Prep finished in first and second respectively.  Host team Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished in third. 

Crusader junior Chris Fuschetto won the 132 lb. weight class. Sebastian Iakouchevitch, an ALJ sophomore, placed third in the 160 lb. weight class.

Michael Kelly (120 lbs.) of St. Peter's Prep was named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. He won his final round match against Rahway’s previously unbeaten Sabri Murray.

The regional tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Union High School and continues on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25. After the regionals, the state Meet of Champions will take place in Atlantic City on March 3-5.
