CLARK, NJ – One Clark business turned up the heat in their kitchen to help the community when the pandemic was racing through New Jersey. BurgerIM of Clark owner, Jalpesh Chokshi was moved to serve and support the community in the same way they had supported him during his first year in town.
He started with providing meals to first responders accompanied by homemade thank you cards created by customers and local community members. Chokshi later started collecting donations to widen his reach to feed those working on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.
“Business is not one-sided, giving back is important to me and in these times, it was especially important to me,” said Chokshi.
While the curve was rising, Chokshi’s business faced the same economic challenges as other businesses. He found himself forced to furlough some employees temporarily, but he left the kitchen open to them the whole time. “I may not be able to pay them right now, but I can feed them,” he said.
As business normalizes, Chokshi looks forward to having his staff back under his roof serving their signature gourmet burgers in a casual atmosphere. Curbside pick up and take out are still available every day from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
