CLARK, NJ - It was a sea of blue as the Arthur L. Johnson High School “BlueCru” hosted a kickoff event before the first home game of the year for Varsity Football on Friday, September 27th. Students that attended paid $5 admission, which included food from Mijos Pizza, Panda Express, and Bistro 1051.
Students came decked out in red, white, and blue to match the theme of the game. Attendees played spike-ball while others played cornhole on boards recently donated by the ALJ Parent Teacher Organization. A DJ filled the air with music throughout the event.
Gianna DeMarco, a sophomore who attended the event said that the kickoff was “great to boost the school’s spirit and get everyone excited for the game.” This was the first year that the school has held a kick off event and it quickly sold out.
When seven o’clock hit, students took their spirit to the stands to support the team against Bernards High School. The team lost 30-21, but will be back again at home next Friday, October 4 against Governor Livingston High School.
