CLARK, NJ--Arthur L. Johnson High School has announced that Michael Buttelmann is the Crusader of the Month for February 2020. Buttelmann was recognized for his contribution and participation in ALJ clubs and activities, especially in the Speech and Debate Team. 

Buttelman plans on studying Psychology in college. He has applied to Fairleigh Dickinson University, Seton Hall University, and St. John’s University in hopes of staying close to home. Buttelmann explained his desire to study psychology, “I became very interested in the study after I took the elective in my junior year and the cgrew as I began AP Psych this year.”

Buttelmann credits his success  to “working hard and setting goals for myself. If you have a goal in your life and work towards it there is all chances in your favor that you will reach it and succeed in your life.”

Buttelmann is co-captain of the Speech and Debate Team where he says, “With the help of my co-captain, I have taught the new members how to write arguments and become more comfortable doing public speaking.”

Always humble, Buttelmann is most  proud of “the dedication and commitment of the members of my speech and debate team and the great work we’ve done all year to bring home three trophies already in just two competitions.”  In his spare time, Buttelmann enjoys hanging out with  his girlfriend, friends and family, or playing video games.” 

“I will miss Speech and Debate and Mr. Fosco and the other great teachers who have made my high school career enjoyable from the very start” added Buttelmann.
