CLARK, NJ - Arthur L. Johnson High School has chosen Taylor Turek as the December Student of the Month.  According to school officials, Turek is an all-around student scholar being active and successful in sports, school activities and the classroom.

Her passion in Field Hockey has garnered her a verbal commitment to play for TCNJ next year. Turek will be majoring in Chemistry at there, a decision which was inspired by Dr. Giannattasio. “Dr. G. has really inspired me to love the sciences,” said Turek, “it is going to allow me to succeed in the Chemistry department.”

In addition to her passion for Field Hockey, which Turek has played since seventh grade, she is very involved in school activities. Turek is vice president of the Class of 2020 and treasurer of the National Honor Society. In addition, Turek is an active member of the National Honor Society, the Italian Honor Society and Heroes and Cool Kids, and a founding member of the Blu Cru.

Turek credits her success at ALJ to “working hard, being determined and caring for others,” said Turek.

Turek is most proud of being a founding member of the Blu Cru, an organization that uses social media to increase awareness of ALJ events. “It’s really cool that Blu Cru actually succeed at increasing attendance at school events,” said Turek. “I will miss my friends and the teachers that made such an impact on my life.”
