CLARK, NJ - Before the pandemic shuttered the doors of local schools, Valley Road School participated in Wellness Week. Multiple opportunities to discover wellness behaviors and activities were available to students and families.
Activities for the week included 'Go Noodle' movement and mindfulness videos, using different fitness stations during gym classes, participating in 'drop everything and relax' after lunch and even trying new healthy foods said school officials.
Maschio Food Service, provided different colorful healthy food options on the school lunch menu each day too. The students were encouraged to wear the same color as the food of the day. A local dental office donated a visual display for children to see how much sugar is in their favorite foods and drinks.
A Valley Road School parent, Ms. Dana worked with the school's PTA to offer a Yoga Night. She held two 30-minute yoga classes for 40 students and parents to try as part of the week's goal of learning about a healthy lifestyle.
