CLARK, NJ -Valley Road and Hehnly Elementary School students worked to create messages of hope to be carried by the wind.

The project created by Art Teachers Kerry Kennedy and Elizabeth Frullo began with teaching students how to design and create a pinwheel.  Next children were asked to put messages on the pinwheel and to imagine that as the wind blows and spins their pinwheels, the messages would be carried around town.

Kennedy explained how art can help in challenging times.  “While being away from school can be difficult, art can be used as a tool to unite us and remind us what we have in common,” she said.
