CLARK, NJ – The “Rat Pack” is making its way to the Union County Performing Arts Center this June to raise funds for Children’s Specialized Hospital thanks to a special Clark resident.

William Caruso went above and beyond last year raising funds for Clark’s own Women’s War Memorial.  This year he is helping Children’s Specialized Hospital by organizing a special show in early June.

“My wife and I are coming up on our 52nd wedding anniversary June 13,” Caruso said. “We thought it would be great to have other couples celebrating this June to join us at the UCPAC all while raising money for an important cause.”

Caruso has lined up famed Frank Sinatra impersonator Jesse Posa and his Rat Pack for this special show on June 3 at UCPAC’s main stage.  The Rat Pack was a popular group of 1960s actors that included Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and others.  Marilyn Monroe is also slated to make a special appearance during the show. Song, dance and comedy are all part of the act.

Caruso is working with the local American Legion and VFW to sponsor seats for wounded soldiers.  He is also hoping that nearby Rahway restaurants will work with him to offer special dining packages for those attending the show.

“What better way to celebrate than with dinner and a show,” Caruso said.

Caruso has spent much of his life organizing fundraisers for important causes such as Wounded Warriors, the Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, D.C., and many more.  Children’s Specialized Hospital heard about Caruso’s efforts to bring a Women’s War Memorial to Clark and hoped that he would help them raise money this year; Caruso was more than willing.

“I just want to help people,” Caruso said.

Children’s Specialized Hospital, centered in Mountainside, New Jersey, operates 13 locations in the state. It provides in-patient and out-patient care for children from birth through age 21 who face health challenges from illness and injury to developmental and behavioral issues. The hospital partners with families to provide personalized and effective innovative therapies and treatments.

Caruso is also sponsoring a design contest at the Arthur L. Johnson High School for art and marketing students who wish to submit a professional poster and flyer promoting the event. Additional information about the contest will be distributed through the school.

Tickets for the June 3 event go on sale May 1 and range from $25 to $40.  All proceeds benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital.  Stay tuned for more information on being a part of this special night.
