CLARK, N.J. — Brook Side Manor, a new 42-unit apartment complex designed for Raritan Road was approved by the Clark Planning Board at their recent meeting. 

The multi-level structure will fill the vacant lot across from Manny’s Diner and extend behind an adjacent bank and office building to Westfield Avenue.

According to representatives that spoke at Thursday’s meeting, the multi-level building will have more than the required amount of parking spaces and be a low traffic-generating site.

Joseph Staiger, Traffic Engineer for the project explained that the flow of traffic in and out of the residential complex at peak hours would be minimal in comparison to a commercial study he had completed for the same site several years ago.  

Staiger said that because work hours and schedules for people vary, the in an out time of individual residents doesn’t reflect the kind of exodus one might see from a business at closing time.  

The development will include 14 units per floor with single to multi-bedroom options and six affordable units to meet fair share housing requirements. There will be over forty parking spaces under the building and another 50 on the grounds of the facility. 

Entrances and exits from the Raritan Road side of the building will be by right turn only.  The Westfield Avenue side allows for left or right turns.  

The Clark Planning Board meets the first Thursday of each month in the Clark Council Chambers at 315 Westfield Avenue.
