CLARK, NJ – Mayor Sal Bonaccorso was named Elected Official of the Year by the Union County Republican Committee during their Lincoln Day Award ceremony at the Gran Centurions recently.
The UCRC honors various members each year at their gathering held in conjunction with the birthday of America’s first Republican President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
“I was honored to be chosen by my party,” said Bonaccorso. “I’ve been an elected representative for 23 years now, I was also happy to have my council people with me that evening.”
Bonaccorso said that he used the opportunity at the microphone to thank his party for the award but also to remind them of what they were elected to do and where he saw opportunities for his party.
The biggest issue Bonaccorso said he sees as needing the attention of elected officials on both sides of the aisle is the volume of housing local municipalities are being forced to build to meet minimum affordable housing guidelines.
The event was held at the Gran Centurions catering hall in Clark. Awards were also given to:
- Sean Pentz - Young Republican of the Year
- Bill Ruocco – Lifetime Achievement Award
- Robin Ratkowski – Volunteer of the Year
