NEW JERSEY/NEW YORK - Drivers planning a route which includes the Goethals Bridge can expect closures on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Port Authority of NY and NJ announced they are instituting electronic or cashless tolling including tolls by mail at the Goethals Bridge in the third quarter of 2019.
In preparation for the new tolling system, the Port Authority said the eastbound (NY-bound) Goethals Bridge will be closed on July 23 and July 24, starting at 10 p.m. through 5 a.m.
Eastbound travelers will be directed to use alternate routes during the closures. According to Port Authority Officials, there will be signage posted to advise motorists of the upcoming closures and to use alternate routes. The westbound (NJ-bound) lanes of the bridge will remain open during these closures.
