SUMMIT, NJ - Three City of Summit Police Department officers -- led by Officer Gerald McDermott, who was first to arrive on-scene -- recently responded to a call for service at the Salerno Duane Service and Parts center and found a 53-year-old man with no detectable vital signs or heart rate.

The quick response and CPR skills of Officer McDermott and fellow Officers Collin Scarpello and Christopher Walsh resulted in the restoration of a normal heart rhythm, and the patient was transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to Overlook Medical Center.
