CLARK, NJ – Police have arrested 78-year-old Thiruvenk Srinivasan of Edison in connection with the October 20 hit-and-run which resulted in the death of 82-year-old James B. Leinbach according to a statement from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

Leinbach was struck as he crossed Raritan Road in the early morning hours on the way to get his daily coffee according to those that knew his daily routine.  

Srinivasan, has been charged with a single count of second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal accident according to officials.  He was taken into custody on Thursday morning without incident pending a first appearance in Superior Court said UCPO.

The investigation was led by the Clark Police Department Traffic and Detective bureaus and Lt. Christian Lott, assisted by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Prosecutor’s Office’s Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Mayor Bonaccorso weighed in on the announcement.  “The Clark Police did an outstanding job on this case,” he said. “They used every resource available to them to find this person.”
