CLARK, NJ - It started on one Facebook group, then another and another across Clark and surrounding towns Sunday night.  People asking where the odd noise they heard was coming from.  Some said it sounded like a jet engine, other users said it was not like anything they'd heard before, yet others joked under the pressure of COVID-19 fears that the apocalypse had arrived.

The mystery was solved just before 10:00 p.m. as the Clark Police posted on their Facebook page that the source of the noise was the refinery in Linden. "If you heard that strange noise a short time ago it was just Conoco Phillips releasing pressure at the refinery in Linden; there is no need to be alarmed," said the post.
