CLEAR LAKE REGION — You may have heard the yip-howl sounds at night near your home. That sound is the sound of coyotes in our area.
The Loving Texas Pet Assistance posted on their Facebook site this week that coyote mating season is here. The next four to six weeks is the ultimate time for coyotes to mate. The peak for coyote breeding is in late February to early March. The gestation for coyotes is only about 60 days.
Coyotes are typically found in municipal parks, green spaces, and wooded areas. However, coyotes have been found in subdivisions as well.
Residents are encouraged to be extra cautious with pets over the next several weeks. Male coyotes are known to be overly aggressive during mating season.
