CORAL SPRINGS, FL – An 18-year-old from Coral Springs was arrested last week for allegedly fleeing in a car from a police officer who tried to stop him for not wearing a seat belt and for having an expired license, a police report said.

The incident happened on Oct. 14 when a police officer spotted the driver of a Chevrolet Impala not wearing a seat belt as he drove west on Royal Palm Boulevard, the report said. While following the car, the officer determined the car had an expired license plate.

The officer turned on the lights and siren, but the car kept driving and then sped off on Coral Ridge Drive and side streets, the report said.
