The lights went dark at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Saturday and then the arena lit up with thousands of cell phone lights as a tribute to the 17 students and employees killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy.

The poignant moment of silence came at the beginning of the Florida Panthers Territory Takeover Nights highlighting Coral Springs and Parkland a day after the second anniversary of the school shooting.

Once the lights came back on, Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook dropped the ceremonial puck to start the Panthers game against the Edmonton Oilers.
