CORAL SPRINGS, FL – After getting kicked out of a Coral Springs Walmart for smoking marijuana last week, a 19-year-old noticed lights coming from cars outside the store on Turtle Creek Drive, a police report said.

Vernon Sheftall, who lives in Margate, then allegedly broke into two cars and took identification cards and a phone, the report said.

After police arrived on Feb. 24 and found Sheftall inside a Hyundai Elantra, he was arrested, the report said.

Police found in Sheftall’s pocket a bag containing two Georgia identification cards, three social security cards, and a “grinder.”

The driver of the Elantra told police the social security cards belonged to her and her sons.

Sheftall later confessed to taking the cards and phone, the report said.

He was charged with theft from auto, unlawful possession of personal identification, and drug paraphernalia.

Earlier in the month, on Feb. 13, Sheftall was arrested for another car break-in in North Lauderdale, according to court records.
