CORAL SPRINGS, FL – A busy portion of an east-west road through Coral Springs will be getting a makeover, starting as early as September.

Wiles Road -- from University Drive to Riverside Drive -- will undergo a “beautification” project as part of the ongoing improvements to the road through Coral Springs, according to a city memo.

The road stretching from State Road 7 to Rock Island Road has already been expanded from four to six lanes. In addition, 4’ bike lanes, sidewalks, landscaping, irrigation, and additional street lighting have been added.

A similar project along Wiles Road, from Rock Island Road to Riverside Drive, is wrapping up in August.

And now, the next phase, from University Drive to Riverside Drive, will be starting and expected to be completed in 2022.

According to the memo, all the projects are being handled by Broward County, which is now working on a bid document to find contractors for the upcoming construction.

Coral Springs city commissioners are expected to discuss the project on Wednesday evening.
